What is Reconstitution Solution?
Reconstitution Solution (Bacteriostatic Water) is a sterile, non-pyrogenic solution that includes 0.9% benzyl alcohol (9 mg/mL) as a preservative. This unique combination of sterile water and benzyl alcohol enables multiple withdrawals from a single 30 mL glass vial. Vials should be discarded 30 days after first use, regardless if you have used all the contents or not. The shelf life for this product when it remains sealed and stored at room temperature is up to 5 years.
The primary distinction between reconstitution solution and other sterile water for injection lies in the presence of the bacteriostatic agent. Unlike bacteriostatic water, standard sterile water for injection does not contain preservatives and is supplied in single-dose vials. These vials must be discarded immediately after a single use.
